Buckland Park

Buckland Park is a large proposed development lead by The Walker Corporation based in Sydney. The development will see thousands of homes occupy up to 1000 hectare of land, to include shopping and services. The area will become a new town for Adelaide's northern suburbs. The Buckland Park development will be an exciting proposition and will provide thousands of jobs and supply homes and land to an area struggling to supply enough property to meet demand.

Adelaide has been considered a smaller city and region than others across Australia, however this development will assist in lifting Adelaide's growth in the national real estate market.

Buckland Park will offer a range of landblock sizes and provide locals and those new to Adelaide a good choice, which includes direct highway access to Adelaide via the new Northern Expressway.

The main plans for Buckland Park include...

Buckland Park will be developed over the next 25 years, up to 2036.
Residential areas built up for near to 12,000 new houses. Providing the neighbourhood with shops, community facilities, primary schools and high schools. The  district centre on Port Wakefield Road, for shops, offices and government services that may be needed police, ambulance and fire brigade. Buckland Park will also have the District Centre which will be built in approximately 12 or 13 years. There will also be industrial areas for business and industry. Open parkland areas for landscaping, bikeways, walking trails, ovals and provision for the protection of native plants and animals. Some of the open parkland will be used for storm and flood water channels including, basins and wetlands.

There are opponents to the Buckland Park development however South Australia will need to provide growth areas for housing as the population experiences net increases in numbers as with the latest figures for 2008 of an increase of net 20,000 into a state of just over 1.2 million people.

The area is considered by some locals to be the wrong place to build due to flood plain issues however many believe with the right planning approach this issue can be overcome. there are also local concerns over only having one main road in and out of the township, however time and planning may overcome this also.

Buckland Park is being carefully planned by the Walker Corporation and hopefully all local concerns will be resolved in order to provide Adelaide and its incoming residents with further living areas.

The support of the Northern Expressway will also assist Buckland Park offering commuters easy access to Adelaide.
